With a membership of almost 90,000, the CII provide a suite of services that are key to personal development within the profession.
At the outset of our work on the CII website, few of these services were available online. Members had to rely on mail and the telephone to book exams, purchase courseware, book training courses - even joining was almost impossible online.
The brief for this project was simple: deliver, over the course of a series of development stages, market-leading capabilities across all areas of the site. The CII’s ambition is to become the standard-bearer for membership organisations online, delivering members and non-members alike the highest standards of service via the internet.
In the first major release of the site, we have addressed many of the key requirements, and have delivered major improvements to how users across the CII’s three key sectors access relevant content and services. A simpler, clearer organisation of the site is centred around the three core sectors, with transactional services relevant to that sector available within each area.
An entirely new set of features allow users to book exams, buy courseware, book training courses and join the CII quickly and easily via a single, consistent method.
Visually, the site is focused on helping to position CII as a modern organisation providing relevant, valuable services. It addresses new, younger entrants to the profession without alienating the older member communities.
The first exam booking from a member was taken five minutes after launch, with order volumes in general drastically exceeding predictions. Member feedback has been excellent, providing the impetuous for many improvements in the future.
